Deepa
Kodikal
( 1941-present, India)
Biography Excerpt:
Gracious and articulate, Deepa Kodikal is
remarkable in many ways, In addition to being a scientist and accomplished
in Indian cuisine and oil painting, Deepa plays the sitar, has performed
Indian classical dance, written and directed plays, designed ceramic murals,
and taken training in glider-flying. Aside from her amazing spiritual journey,
Deepa is delightful.
“I had not read any scriptures prior to
my experiences outlined here nor had I any yearning at all for Knowledge
of the Divine. Life was perfect for me. I needed no change. Desire for
this or hankering for that was unknown to me. Then, one day, I began perceiving
a new dimension to life, stark and spread everywhere. I began to wonder
how I had been blind to it when it was all-pervasive and so obvious. How
could I have been so insensitive to all this divine grandeur?”
Enlightenment Story Excerpt:
Throughout the night, I was in deep
meditation. I was in meditation inspite of myself.
Henceforth, my sleep would be my meditation,
and my meditation my sleep. In deep meditation I was again told I was in
'turyavastha' and 1 was being led to 'Parabrahma'. And then I saw the 'vishwarupa'
as is described in the Gita. That is a visualization in anthropomorphological
terms. What I saw was the universe as it is. In its entirety and in its
universality. The 'vishwarupa' (universal form) as it is.
